Seems like there's more and more of these on the forum lately, so I want to show-off my navy example {again}.

General info of what nature?
That SN indicates probable shipment around May 1943. The U. S. NAVY stamping stopped around SN 267xxx or possibly a little earlier. Yours appears to be in much better condition than usually seen. These were issued primarily to naval aviators to be carried during flight missions.

On avarage, Navy-stamped guns tend to be in worse shape with heavier wear than US property-stamped guns, which makes sense since chronologically they came before and should have a few more years of war service.

Seeing especially DSC contract guns with a basically new unissued appearance like yours is not uncommon, but a Navy gun like that is rare. It certainly didn't spend any time in a saltwater environment
