My sister and I and our family celebrate September, 13, 1924, my father's birth day. The war was on when he graduated from high school and his brother Eddie was already flying out of N. Africa. Dad attended flight school and became a pilot in the Army Air Force/8th Air Force. After the war he attended the Air Force Institute of Technology, then Cal Tech, Princeton and eventually receive his PhD at Ohio State. His work at the AF Flight Dynamics Laboratory and Arnold Engineering and Development Center in aerodynamics and astrophysics is well known in the field. He retired from the AF the same year I joined the Army. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He passed way too early, August, 1985. Happy birthday Dad.

Thank you for letting me post this here.

Honors to your dad and the good memories he left you. An accomplished man. His service portrait is reminiscent of the kind of actors they used to pick for roles in military/war movies. He looks like the guy in the barracks that "always got the girl". It's gratifying having a father one can remember proudly and fondly. I speak from experience.

That's a fine set of pics of a fine looking family!
It's good you have a remembrance day. I believe that as long as our ancestors live in memory, they live still.
For my own father, I fold the newspaper and do the LA Times crossword puzzle almost every day, the same way he did when we worked it together for many years.
Your dad was an impressive guy.

Happy Birthday to your father... it is my late father's birthday as well.. he was born in 1931... he was a very patriotic 4F... all he did was marry the love of his life and together they raised 5 pretty good kids... so happy birthday dad... miss you...

edit: my son is an Aerospace Engineer too... grandpa would be very proud.

Happy B Day to your dad. RIP. Did you get his movie star looks?

Not so much, but my wife says I looked like Robbie Douglas of My Three Sons in Vietnam. A little teen ager.
It was a wonderful day for my sister, daughter and son, and their families. Thank you Dad. We love you.

Yesterday would have been my Moms 103rd birthday. All throughout the day my wife or I would recall an event or story that centered around Mom. Special people from a special era.
