My first .357

... But am pretty sure the grips are not original based on the observation they are a bit off with respect to matching the frame contour, especially at the butt where the wood is a good 1/16 proud of the metal frame. You can make it out on the photo.

The previous owner misplaced the Original Grips.

Those appear to be factory N-frame Magna grips. The silver washer is generally not seen in the aftermarket.

Those Magnas would look great on a Model 27 or 28
I'm thinking the same thing, they are just too big for a K/L- frame, so likely came off of an N-frame.

Shortly after their introduction, my first L-Frame was a 4" 586. They are beauties IMHO. But unless special ordered with the service style grips, the 586 and 686 no dash guns came with target grips; no serial number. Having purchased my share of new S&Ws with target grips over the last 50 years or so, none had a serial number inside the target grips..

Thanks for the information on what they are.
And following up on 444 magnums suggestion, I did find a nice set of target grips the the WTS section. When they come in later this week I’ll create a new WTS post so my current set ends up on the right sized revolver.

Thanks everyone. I learned more than one thing today!

Thanks for a different possibility.
Another ‘what did I learn in school today’. I need to read up on universal fit.
Homework: Maybe I can find someone local with an N-frame to trial fit these stocks…If I do I’ll report back.

Beautiful, hard-working revolver - you did well!

Those grips aren't original, and I doubt they are for a K- or L-frame. My S&W revolvers all wear the Hogue Mongrip - it doesn't drag on clothing. I like all my revolvers' grips to feel the same.

(Full disclaimer - what follows shows I’m newish to SW revolvers)

Update. I purchased a nice set of target grips from a forum member. When I opened the package I noticed each grip has two holes, one for the grip screw and the other nearer the butt. Took me a while looking at YouTube videos before realizing the grip pin was missing from the gun. I fabbed a temporary pin from a #33 (I think) drill bit and the grips fit much better, especially front and back.
Here’s an image with the magna’s.

An original grip pin is on its way from Numrich.
