Hey guys, this is my first post and let me just say thanks for all the information I've gotten from this forum.

I just finished my first ar15 project. Started with the m&p15 sport and added:
-eotech 512
-magpul ctr stock
- ambi single point sling mount
-polytac led weaponlight
-mbus front and rear sights
- grippod system
- f.a.b. defense grip
-low profile gas block and black gas tube
-omega tactical spectre length free float rail with a Midwest industries handguard cap.
-painted s&w logo and safe/fire lettering

I'm happy with it. Looks good and shoots great, and I just wanted to share it with you guys.

looks like all kinds of fun to me!!!

I have that same Eo and CTR on one of mine. Careful though, like S&W's, this likely won't be your last AR...

this is so true, already own multiple s&W's, and already anticipating the next ar build.

not sure what she weighs, still light compared to others I've handled. Not too heavy to handle for extended periods of shooting, very comfortable.

At risk of sounding like a stickler, ala clip vs. magazine, you technically "built up" your sport. A "build" as used in most AR discussions begins with a stripped lower and collection of parts to literally, "build" a functioning weapon.

Yours looks like a nice accessorized Sport.

Sorry for being misleading in the topic title. Your correct, not necessarily a "build", more proprely a "project". My next AR will truly be a "build" now that I understand more what I'm doing with this weapon system.

Didn't mean to sound like a smart axx and almost didn't post it. :D It is a nice weapon, enjoy it.

The build thing isn't hard if you have patience and a few, key tools. Nice thing is you know the quality of everything that goes in and that the little things are done correctly. :)

I did replace the gas block myself. wasn't too bad, getting the taper pins out was the toughest part. I got one out easily, but mushroomed the second, and ended up having to gracefully use a dremel to cut it out. a little nerve racking, but not too bad. While I had it out, I duracoated the outside of the gas tube black so that the silver tube didn't stand out under the handguard.

Really nice, I especially like the Duracoated gas tube, I use duracoat on my mauser builds so looks like I have a part to paint when I change out my gas block.

duracoat is amazing stuff. I re-did a rusty old S&W 916-t shotgun that was my grandfathers and it turned out beautiful. Its not worth much but it was very sentimental.

How did you 'paint' the lettering? What paint or other medium was used? What was used for cleanup if anything overflowed? Thanks and it looks very nice.

DSCF3701.jpgDawgfan, I used Snap-On touch up enamel on mine. let it dry a little, wiped off the excess with a paper towel and then use a Mr Clean Magic eraser to lightly clean up the rest...cam out looking nice!!! I did clean the spot with alcohol before I started:

Did you know you aren't supposed to mix alcohol and guns???
