I recently moved and IDPA matches have ceased for the season. Fortunately the range has ICORE scheduled.

I shot my long neglected M15 & had a hoot. 4 quick simple stages that were unforgiving. Of course I had a brain fart and mistakenly reengaged a target after a reload on a limited stage. Other than that, did fairly well and most importantly had a fun time.

I’ll continue to shoot ICORE and give my revolvers a work out.

ICORE is the best game in town for revolver shooters.
As I was new to the range and never shot with the members on my squad, think they had minimal expectations of me- similar to me when working with new shooters. Believe I exceeded their expectations with my speed and accuracy. Think I met their expectations with my brain fart however :-)

I often shot my revolvers in IDPA and think that helped in my performance yesterday.

I’ll certainly shoot icore more and exercise my other wheelguns

I shot icore again today, this time using my newly acquired M581. Fun day and while I tanked my first stage, I did pretty good on the other stages. Was the first time I shot the M581 in a match (& it showed), but think I’ll shoot it more this season as it simply shoots so smoothly.

I’ve put VZ grips on it as well as painted the front sight bright yellow for my aging eyes.

All in all a fun day.

Shot my 581 again in today’s ICORE match. Did well on the plate rack until I had to shoot it strong hand only, then the wheels fell off the bus. I guess I need to train shooting strong and weak handed.

Despite the weather, was a fun day with friends. I do enjoy the 581, but think I may shoot my M15 better……

I wish there was some ICORE shooting nearer to me. I LIKE round guns.

I recently moved - where I came from there is a very active competitive pistol community but no ICORE. I ended up shooting my wheelguns in IDPA and ASI.

Where I am now, we have most disciplines, but not ASI.

Shot my 581 at yesterday’s ICORE match. Came in 2nd in classic division and actually won one stage.

My 581 is stock, VZ grips and a painted front sight are the only changes. My holster is from Mernickle and I use Safariland comp III speedloaders.

It’s a fun group we shoot with and that’s one of the primary reasons I shoot competitions.

Next match is end of the month.

I need to try ICORE as much as I enjoy running my revolvers. I often use DA revolvers at my cas sass /WASA club. Shot my Webleys last month. Imo a fine revolver is a much more interesting firearm than a semi and I do love a 1911.

I have to say, shooting a Webley in a match is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever heard. Well played old boy!

Had another fun day with my 581 at our end of month ICORE match. Yesterday’s weather was cold and windy, many of us were happy to have our hand warmers in our pockets :-). Think I did well, but awaiting the scores to be posted.

Update- scores were posted, came in 2nd

4 simple yet challenging stages requiring rapid reloads to be competitive. Found 2 of my safariland comp IIIs failed on me. ( was unable to have them lock when loading them up).

All in all, a fun yet chilly day

Another fun day with my 581 in our ICORE match. Didn’t fare well, but had a fun time with like minded folks.

I’ve become the match director for our club’s ICORE games, and come to believe running the match takes a toll on my performance. Not much, but it’s noticeable IMO. Certainly not an excuse, just an observation.

Regardless, I’m having fun which is my metric for success.

Will shoot my 625 next match with intent to classify in the new division, BIG SIX

Great thread. I shot IDPA for years but took time away as our kids were getting older. I’m hoping to make it to some of Duke’s matches in Rockford.

We have a great ICORE bunch at Mill Creek Rifle Club, for anyone in the KC area. There are usually about 2 dozen guys and gals. Everyone is just relaxed and having a good time, as it should be. Some of us get lunch and visit after the match. If you're a safe gun handler, we would like you to join us. Safety is #1 at this club. Look at millcreekrc.org for the calendar.

Are you shooting in Idaho Falls? They used to have an active ICORE club.

Randy, that is where I’m shooting and recently became the MD. I really enjoy the club, very welcoming ( I moved in the fall of ‘23) with gobs of shooting opportunities.
