Very nice pistol knuckles, looks like the cat may take claim to this one...I'm sure you will be very happy with your 640, they are great little guns. I carry all my J frames in ankle holsters, however they aren't for everyone. There are 2 that are really popular, Galco Ankle Glove & the Renegade. My preference is for the Ankle Glove.

There are a number of people that carry J frames in pocket holsters or IWB. I'll let others that carry this way comment on manufacturers.

Cheers,
Sam

Not sure if I would want to battle the cat or the gun! I had a run in once with a cat...the cat won! Are those aftermarket grips? I sure would like to have a 640...can't imagine shooting a 357 out of it...but then again I would not have to because you can't find any 357!

Sorry to hear you sold off that fine Ruger.

Anyway, looks like you got a nice replacement. Good luck with it.

My first S&W was a 640-1. Still have it. Hornaday .357 JHPs really aren't all that bad.... But I usually practice with .38s.

If I'm carrying mine, it's usually in a pocket.

I'll only use 38spl +p ammo in this thing... it's 2onces lighter then the ol' SP101... I used Speer Gold Dots before and that's what I might use again, or maybe Remington Golden Sabers.
357mags were not really fun in the SP either.

There's all that "low-flash" ammo I'm reading up on too.

El Paso Saddlery is first rate, but expensive and you'll wait a long time. For good day-to-day holsters look at Galco's website.

I once ordered an 'El Paso' IWB for a GP100 I use to have... no way was that holster and my butt fitting in the same pants back then... IWB is what I used for my SP101, and if I go with another I ain't gonna get it with a "rough side out"... it's to constricting.

I'm also thinking about getting a nice OWB paddle-holster for those quick outings.
