Let me clarify that for you.

I meant self defense in the backyard. Pesky squirrels,,,unwanted snakes.

Just bought a Beretta 21A Bobcat in 22LR. I have this thing about single action shooters. They can be very accurate and followup shots are as good as the first. Plus don't you get sick of those all black plastic guns that manufacturers push at you.

Again I'm not a professional photographer but here it is...

I love these. Not sure about now, but the last new one I got (wish I still had it) had a gem in the instruction manual about how taking guns down and over cleaning often caused more damage that use of the firearm! Sometimes, when in a foul mood, I wish for S&W to say in its manual that owners should stop with the excessive BS cleaning, scrubbing, and use of sandpaper, steel wool, and other ridiculous "cleaning" gadgets. LOL Anyway, this Beretta 21 is a great solution, especially for those who have trouble pulling the slide back. I wish they still made their .380 version for those with arthritis. Much easier to tip up the barrel and load it than to rack the slide! Forgot to mention, for backyard pest control, the new one they have with threaded barrel together with a nifty "muffler" seems like the way to go for squirrel defense in the back yard. :)

Actually, I like Squirrels...and Snakes...and I really like my Ruger LCP...

So as nice of a gun as the Beretta 21a is, I'll stick with my LCP for self-defense and let the Squirrels and Snakes be since they're really not any threat to me.

There's nothing really bad about snakes and squirrels. I prefer to shish kabob them on the grill glazed in a tangy BBQ sauce with a side of fries. :D

I'm kidding... I feed the squirrels daily. The snakes don't come when called.

I provide overlook protection to cardinals and woodpeckers from squirrels stealing their food with a .22 Gamo bone collector stoked with Gamo red fire pellets. in the last 2 years somewhere north of 200, an only if they were actually on the feeder...

I only feed the squirrels. Most of the birds around here are crows, bluejays and woodpeckers. None of them have a pleasant "voice" and the woodpecker pounds on the aluminum flue atop the chimney. Little sparrows come by to pick on the scraps and aren't annoying.

I had one of the Taurus copies of that years ago. It was actually a very reliable pistol, I could shoot any kind of ammo in it, I used Win. Wildcat alot back then, never a jam. It's one great flaw was accuracy. Point of aim and point of impact were off by about a foot. Aim at the bullseye and shots would group in the bottom left corner of the target. This was at 7-8 yards. At least back then they were cheap.

I have read that the Israeli Mossad used Beretta 22's to good effect in the 1970's, and not always at short range. I suppose squirrels come pretty close to the definition of backyard terrorists... ;) :D

I’ve had a few of those……. I called them jamomatics……..good luck!

The consensus seems to be that the ammo used plays a huge role in how the firearm functions. They are good quality firearms otherwise.

I have revolvers in 22 caliber that fail to fire on ocassion.

Coltie,

Be forewarned!

Wounded squirrels are known
to charge their attackers, ripping
them apart in a manner too
horrible to contemplate.
