Made them out of disc blades tough metal, 357 won't dent it even up close, works good out to about 100 yards. But I found out today I can not hear the hits on those far ones with my ear muffs on :-( . Do you suppose a 3/8 AR400 steel would ring enough to hear that far away ?
I am sure someone will ask, so yes, I can hit it about one out of six shots with my open sight 686-6, however I scared it the other five shoots ;-)

I recommend electronic ears that amplify when the gun's not making noise. I'm pretty sure that most of the pistol calibers will have quieted down before the bullet smacks the target. I could hear bullets from my .44 Mag Ruger carbine hitting a wood-backed target at 100yd even with regular ears on, as I recall.

Give the electronic earmuffs a try, they are worth it.

Nice backyard do you have there... so where exactly do you live ;)

OH boy, a bunch of electronic muffs from 80 to 300 dollars,
any brand suggestions ?

Even at $300 their still cheaper then that much AR400 steel
and I have a lot of those disc blades.
I am about 70 east of Denver.

Our Costco had Walkers Alpha for less than $40 over Christmas. Don't know if they still have them. Really like them. Saw them at Cabelas for $60ish

Good Electronics are worth the extra money, I have MSA-Sordins. They are slim enough to be useful when firing a rifle are very directional and even with Ear Screws in place I can hear conversations when the firing line is hot.

Aloha,

I envy guys like you.

Able to shoot in your backyard.

After the Wife retires, we're going to have a talk and see if we

should move to a "free state".
