Hey guys I figured I would post a thread about my M&P 10. I wanted to discuss modifications along with post data of some long range shooting and progress reports of my reloads. I recently shot this gun bone stock with a cheap Redfield Battlezone 3x9 900 yards at Rayners Range in Blue Rock, Ohio. This was using cheap PMC ammo which was very consistent through this rifle. Since then i put a Troy free floated rail on it and a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6x-24x50 scope. This scope in my opinion is the best scope money can buy under a $1000. Its first focal point and has great clarity and zoom. Do NOT put a $100 scope on a $1500 rifle. The golden rule i learned at the range is to spend at least 50% of the rifle on optics. I see people all of the time at the range with a $3,000 rifle with a Ncstar scope. Its a joke. Don't take any advice from these people. I do have a couple of questions for the future.

Has anyone tried the Mako Stock and preferred it over the Magpul?

What single stage trigger should i buy?

I'm going to be reloading in the near future with Hornady AMax 178 gr FMJBT. I'll post grouping results of different loads. I just have to take my reloading bench and things from my ex girlfriends to my new house :). Also here is a video of me shooting at 650 yards at this range. My Redfield scope ran out of elevation adjustments right at 650 lol. Youll be able to hear my round eject and hear the spotter say HIT.

Nice set up and nice shooting. Where did you find the BET in that magnification for under $1k?

I put a Viper Vortex PST FFP 4-16x50 on my rig. Love it but looking for a scope for another rifle for longer distance.

Thanks for sharing.

Found it at Optics Planet for $759 shipped! Midway USA and all other websites were at least $850+. Shipping was free as well and had it in two days. This used to be almost a $2,000 scope when it first came out it has alot of great reviews. I'll be sure to post some groupings after this weekend, its supposed to warm up a little bit (45 degrees.) Also, i just ordered 200 rounds of Fiocchi from LuckyGunner.com for $12.50 box of 20. This stuff shoots great and the brass is good for reloading. Its not match ammo but its perfect for me to sight in my new scope and get some extra brass so i can start reloading. I would jump on this for the price

Here's my current SHTF setup. Pack my ak pistol in a backpack while carrying my ar10 lol

Also I feel like there is some confusion on what fits what and was wondering if i go with the Mako stock, what all would i need besides the stock for the rifle to function?

Mako Recoil Reducing Buttstock Adjustable Cheek Rest Collapsible

Ohio...Can I suggest and recommend a Magpul ACS stock?! I can't say enough about it and I have it on two other rifles and the STR on another. Get the enhanced buttpad for it. That's all you need. And you'll know it's reliable and strong for the SHTF times! I am not a salesperson or associated to Magpul in anyway. They just make good stuff and I stand by there stocks. Check out my build specs (Post #77) in the "Post Your Beast in all of its GLORY!!" thread.

^^^^^^^ what he said. I would stay away from Mako and get a Magpul. The ACS, ACS-L, STR or even CTR are excellent choices. You will appreciate the enhanced buttpad also.

Oh and nice rig! I have the 3-12 Bushnell Elite Tactical and really like it.

How much do you want to spend on a trigger? You have the ALG QMS or for a little more the ACT. All the way up to a pricey single stage like a Wilson Combat, Timney, etc.

I have a Geissele SSA two stage and like it.

There are a lot of stocks that I like but I prefer to go with one that has an adjustable cheek rest for long range shooting. That eliminates a lot of stock choices that I have. By the way thanks for the compliments. Other than Mako and Magpul who else makes a cheek rest stock?

I have the Mako recoil reducing stock on my M&P10 and really like it. I can shoot all day and never notice. It does rattle a little but I find that it does not bother me at all.

I have a JP trigger to put in the gun because I like it so much on another gun. Instead I decided to do a little stoning using a Lansky diamond stone since I had somewhere to go if I messed it up. It is not as good as the JP but it is smooth now, not gritty and about 4lbs. It is not completely crisp but I judge it useable.

If you decide to do this look twice at where you stone and go s l o w. You will install it many times.

I put the magpul short forend on and like it a lot. With a little tapping it goes on without modification.

I like the gun a lot.
