I finally took a family photo of my Mauser action .22cal. Trainers.

Top to bottom: Erma DSM 34, Gustoff-Werke KKW, FN ABL 1952 Navy, FN ABL 1952 Navy, FN ABL 1952 Army and a French MAS 45. The bottom one is not a trainer, it is a FN ABL 1952 30-06.

Another view.

I'm still looking for a FN produced Mauser action Israeli trainer.

Never owned or fired one of the German 22s, but my MAS 45 is a sweetheart: very accurate and easy to shoot. My friend has another one that is the same. Does your MAS 45 have any parts stamped "Mauser"? I've heard that some MAS 45s have the inside of the buttplate stamped "Mauser", and the French just turned them around so the markign wouldn't show.

Years ago I gave my son a Norinco Mauser-action .22LR trainer. He and his boys shoot it a lot. He said it's a needle-threader.

I paid $88 for it, maybe twenty-five years ago. Finish wasn't great, but it was well-built and had a nice trigger,

Very nice collection indeed. Have heard these trainers are expensive and often hard to come by. Thanks for showing a fine collection.

My reading tell me the MAS 45 evolved from German to French over a period of time. Some early ones have Mauser stamped parts, but the later ones, like mine, are all French as best as I can tell.

Most that I have seen in the past year or two appear to be in excellent condition, often with more than one magazine.

The Chinese Mauser trainer copies are in the $400.00 plus price range currently. Most or maybe all are magazine feed unlike the originals, that are single shots.

You're right. Germany made a few, then the French put them together from parts they found at Oberndorf. They did this with P 38s, HScs, WPT-2 and some Kar 98Ks also. They then moved the machinery for MAS 45s to St Etienne and continued to produce them there. They used Mauser parts until they ran out. I haven't seen all that many, but I've never seen one with Mauser parts or stamped Mauser on the receiver.
