I saw this thread in the for sale area a couple of weeks ago:

http://smith-wessonforum.com/access...e-pens-bolt-action-magnum-shotgun-others.html

So I took the recommendations from the SigForum and I contacted Jim purchased one of his Bolt Action Pens. I have purchased (I hate to say collect) a bunch of custom pens over the years, and I have some experience in grading the fit/finish and workmanship of a custom made pen.

I was very impressed with the pens Jim made for me. One was an example of his Olivewood pens I purchased for a friend who owns a Christian Bookstore/Giftshop. She was so impressed she will probably purchase in bulk for her shop when she begins ordering her Christmas inventory. I was unable to get pictures of that pen, but it looks exactly like what is posted in Jim's for sale thread.

On to my new pen. Custom made with my personal favorite wood: Amboyna burl. Fit and finish of this pen is top notch. The bolt action pen hardware is heavy and well made. The metal finish is perfect and looks like it will hold up for years. The fit and finish of the wood is as good as it gets. It isn't easy for these guys to turn wooden blank into a perfect circle with a hole dead center of the blank. Jim has this skill well in hand.

I would recommend you investigate Jim's pens to see if there is something he makes you would enjoy. I can tell you his prices are more than "fair", they are a bargain.

Very nice craftsmanship and a definite "cool" factor. Nice!:)

How exactly does the bolt action pen articulate? Is the shotgun pen a fountain pen and the others ballpoint?

Who makes the nib for the fountain pen? I've about quit using my Parker fountain pens, as nibs for the 75's are hard to come by.

I do like the ballpoints taking Parker refills, as that's the brand that I use most, although I have a couple of Cross fountain pens and two ballpoints, also.

These look intriguing.

I just love a rifle with the bolt on the left hand side. Kind of makes my eyes water thinking there's another lefty in the world!

Thanks for all the kind comments - particularly 45wheelgun who is the proud owner of this particular pen.

The bolt works exactly like a rifle. It just extends and retracts the ink cartrdge.

The shotgun pen comes in both fountain pen and rollerball.

The rollerball is a standard Schmidt refill - .22" dia x 4" long.

Not sure who the actual manufacturer is for the fountain pen nib. It is stamped German Iridium, but I believe that is just the point content and the whole assembly is made in Asia.

The .30 Cal twist and bolt both use Parker refills (ballpoint or gel)

The .50 cal uses a Cross ballpoint refill.
