Mods, if this is the wrong section for this subject, please move to the appropriate one.

I remember seeing a thread about moon clip storage where forum member and moderator Smith357 had built a moon clip rack that fit in .50 BMG metal ammo can. It held 80 .45 ACP moon clips for total of 480 rounds, and by my calculation, weighed in the neighborhood of 30+ pounds. I decided to make a smaller version of it that would fit in a plastic Harbor Freight .30 cal can, but for 10mm. Mine holds 48 moon clips for a total of 288 rounds and weighs in just a little over 12 pounds with 170 grain LSWC’s and only a pound or so more with 200 grain projectiles. I bought the oak dowels from Home Depot, but everything else was just scrap I had lying around. I’m planning on doing another one for .45 ACP. What do you guys think?

Quite a while ago I picked up the cutest little "ammo can" (plastic) and 8 (or 9?) loaded moon clips fit nicely, on the bottom and with a 50 round box of ammo a second row still leaves room for the loading/stripping tools.

Just right for a trip to the range.

Can't remember what came in it, but I'm sure it was firearm related...?

Cheers!

I like your idea for storage of pistol ammo. However since I shoot cast bullets I need a way to store 100 rounds at a time. Mostly 7.65c54 Argentine mauser, the good old 30-30, 45/70 and 30-06. I use the MTM 100 round containers. May not finish the 100 rds at one range trip. And in some cases 30-06 use different brass for different rifles. So each 100 rd container has two labels. One on the top and one on the front designated caliber and loading. Up to 12 containers for different calibers and loads. Frank PS, those cookie containers we get every Christmas??. Use those to hold processed cast bullets.

They opened a new cutrate store near to us and of course the wife got some more cookies tins. Now have two round tins and two square tins. Magic marker labels tells me what's inside. PLus they sell books at a steep discount. Gotta check it out one of these days. Frank

This thread reminds me…. I am now, newly, out of moon clip revolvers
I need to dig out my 10mm and 45acp moon clips and tool . Must get them out of my way
