I generally dislike foreign-made revolvers (Rossi, Taurus etc...) but like everything else in life there are always exceptions. We all say we have "Grail" Guns and most of them are specific models or variations of Popular Colt's or S&W's (Revolver-wise).

These two are a little different, these are what I would call "White Whale" grail guns. Guns that here in the U.S. are so uncommon that to this day I've never seen one in person, and likely could spend the next 20+ years looking an never find either in a LGS.

First off is the Manurhin MR-73: Specifically for me the 3 inch Plain Clothes model.

These are the revolvers that the French GIGN use/used. In Europe they're as common as a 686 is here in the States, but due to some reason or another not very many (could never really find a definitive number, but it's very small) were ever imported to the USA, the number or 3-inchers narrows that number down even more.

These babies are built like brick-you know what's. Reportedly designed to shoot at least 150 rounds of full-house .357's PER DAY (as was the GIGN's training regimen). To me they look A LOT like S&W's, Pinned Barrel, Cylinder release, Deep rich bluing, forged parts etc...Chances or running into one are Slim to none, but the next gun is really the "Unicorn" of my dreams.

Mateba Unica 6 Autorevolver: Specifically the 5" .44 Magnum Version (although I'd buy any one of them to be honest).

There really is no practical use for this gun....but SO WHAT! This has got to be one of the coolest operating/looking Revolvers of all time (IMO). Nerd Alert: I was first exposed to Mateba's while watching Ghost in the Shell, where one of the main characters (Togusa) carries a Mateba as his weapon of choice while everyone else carries plastic wonder-guns. Needless to say Mateba is out of business and not very many of the Unica 6's were imported (I believe it's under 6000) and when they do come up you'd better have a small fortune of disposable income available, because they are EXPENSIVE!

To be honest with myself even if I walked into a LGS tomorrow and found one of these for sale I probably (no, definitely) couldn't afford either one of them. But hey I can dream right?

Just curious, what are some of yalls "White Whale" grail guns?

for me a top condition original 1860 colt army. although not uncommon ,they are expensive and difficult to justify owning as a "shooter."
id also like a browning highwall in 45-70 must have nice wood
i know, :) coca-cola tastes on a tap water budget

Snakeshift; I'd sure like to have a Manurhin. I think they have later models than the '73, but all are supposed to be very smooth. I'd like the adjustable sight version, and would particularly like the version made for Olympic shooting with an extended rear sight in 32S&W Long.
