Here’s my Single Six I carried everywhere I could outdoors when I was a kid, getting it for my 14th birthday in 1971. Price was $64, I believe. And with it is the unfired Colt .44-40 I got most recently. I guess it’s true that our “toys” just get more expensive when we get older. I added the pearls to the Colt.

Ha! That Single Six looks like all the old Colt "gray guns" that I see at gun shows. It's surely been around the block a time or two. :) Just an old beater to anyone else, but priceless to you.
In 1983 I was staying at my parents for a while and my teenage sister’s boyfriend stole that Ruger. We went to the closest police station and my dad brought the original receipt. Amazingly the officer at the counter walked in back and came out with the gun! It turns out that punk used it to shoot up a Jack In The Box restaurant with it and they caught him. So I got my gun back right then.
