Let's say it was her first "real" outing while carrying. She's carried outside while walking the dog, and had twice carried when going over to her aunts to dog sit.... but never in public.

Some back story:

I had spent a few years with my wife in her search for a carry gun.

The first gun she got was a gift from her dad... a Bersa .380. She fired it once, didn't like it, and ended up giving it back to her dad. Since he got it for her as a gift, he gave her the money for it so she could get something else.

A Walther P22 was the replacement. It fired OK, never reliable enough in my opinion, but was too large for her to carry so it sat in her drawer.

When we got married, the gun still sat in her drawer, but at least there were other more reliable and potent options for her to grab in an emergency. But she still had no good carry option.

She tried my LCP and BG380... liked the size but hated the triggers. She didn't want a revolver.

Finally one day she came shooting with me and brought her Walther. Too many issues. Mostly with feeding. She decided then that she might as well get rid of the Walther since it was so unreliable.

By this time I knew what she wanted, so I was able to make some suggestions. She liked my Sig P938, and was very interested to learn they had the p238 in .380.

When she said she wanted a Rainbow Titanium P238, I had one for her within the week.

She shot it, liked it, shot it some more, loved it. Plus, there hasn't been a single issue with it.

Now back to the carrying concealed story:

She did her research and read up on concealed carry for women. None of my holsters were a fit.... lady hips and a thin waist make for weird bulges.

She came across an option she was interested in. A Dene Adams corset holster. It doesn't add any bulges around the waist, and a belt isn't needed.

I got it for her for Christmas, and I was thrilled when we discovered it actually works. It conceals great and she's comfortable wearing it. It's a little on the deep cover - slow draw side, but that's something she's working on.

Yesterday, we braved the snow to do some grocery shopping. We made two stops and then came home. After we unloaded the groceries, she turned to me and said "so could you tell I was carrying?!".

I in fact could not. She was comfortable and said she didn't feel at all awkward while carrying. I'm so proud of her, especially since so much of the decision makin was all her own.

I got my CPL a few months ago and my wife, who was never around firearms until she met me,... surprised the Beegeesus out of me the other day when she told me she was going to get her CPL. I think it was the new changes to the law in Michigan that basically does away with the local gun board. She does own three pistols, which she carries around the property (we have 25 acres) for varmint control. We also go to the range every two weeks.... I just never thought she would get her CPL as I already had one. I just showed her the Gun Goddess website, and I can just tell by the look on her face,.... she will get one. She has a Ruger LC380 and a PA63 that I think would fit in the corset. Thank you for that link!

That's great, wizard!

My wife loves hers. She wore just the holster to work for a few days and was happy wearing it all day. She's been wearing it at home with her Sig for hours at a time as well. She was happy with it in the car as well.

She wears relatively close fitting tops, and this did a great job of hiding the shape.

Really good to hear. Its not an easy thing to accomplish.
I like the idea of wearing an empty holster for a while. I did it myself when I was new to the concept of CCW.
My wife is going for her LTC training this month, so although she loves to shoot, we've got a little ways to go.
Best of luck

I think if I keep on trying, but not continuously, I will be able to talk my wife into getting a CCW. She is a retail clerk and is beginning to realize that the possibility of needing a weapon, is slowly increasing even down here in the Ozarks. She will do what she wants, I can guarantee that.
peace,
gordon

USAF385, way to go with having patience with your wife for 2 years until she found a gun she is comfortable with.
I hear to much about guys telling there wives this is the gun you need.
I have finally found a gun that my wife is comfortable with, hopefully after a few more trips to the range I can talk her into getting her CPL. Maybe the link you posted for the corset holster will help.

In this world a man must either be anvil or hammer.

Fantastic! Lucky man.

How secure is the holster? It actually looks quite comfortable.... If only they made a more masculine one that would fit a beer belly!

It's actually quite secure. It has retention straps that she can choose to use should she desire. The whole thing is pretty well constructed. It doesn't move around on her either.

Oh, and I think they might be looking into one for men....!

The corset holster looks like a great idea for women, but I wonder how accessible it is? You've got to get a shirt out of the way to draw.

I recently got one of these from Duluth Trading, and it works brilliantly for carrying a J-frame. Easy access even when driving:
