Am I the only one who thinks the barrel markings look like they've been buffed? They look a little flat & shallow to me.

Some closure. I received my Jinks Letter on the above 1917. Not much info. He says it was shipped 10/31/18 and delivered to United States Army, Bush Terminal Depot. It shipped with a 5.5" barrel, blue finish, butt swivel, and smooth wood grips. All that matches the gun but the butt swivel is missing. Got one from Numerich however. Can't get the pin out however to install it. Soaking with pene oil now. They failed to comment on the lack of military markings so I have sent a note off to R. Jinks again for additional innfo. Terry

Interesting letter. The SN format and finish suggest a factory refinish (commercial rather than military SN format), but the lack of a date stamp for the work is mysterious.
I'll update as soon as I hear back from Jinks as to their thoughts on a Military shipment with no military markings except the flaming bomb. Thanks everyone for all the expert help. Love this Forum. Very quick to respond and accurate.
