I'd like to have an N frame (625) with a 8-3/8 barrel in 45 colt. I my knowledge, it does not exist. But, Could it exist?

Could an 8-3/8" full lug barrel from a 629, 44 mag be re-bored and fitted? How much would such work cost?

Thanks

Yes it could. The rebore will run around $150, to properly fit the barrel another $100 or so, to rechamber the cylinder another $175 or so. Throw in ~$75 for relettering the caliber and then a reblue at $250 or so. The latter two could be omitted if you can live with a 44 Mag marked 45 Colt, I can't. Look at Clearwater Reboring's website for actual pricing (they do top notch work) and maybe Jim Stroh's website for fitting and rechambering. I just had him do similar work on a M29-2 I converted to 45 Colt.

If you started with a 625 in 45LC (which are plentifull) you would just need an 8 3/8" 629 classic barrel (for reboring and fitting). Stainless guns don't need a $250 reblue. If the barrel is a newer laser engraved one the 44 mag markings are easily polished off. Would be a relatively easy conversion.

They made the 25-5 in 45 Colt. If you are interested in a 25-5, 8 3/8" nickel gun PM me.

Yep, I have a 625-9 in 45 Colt. So perhaps for $300-$350 I could have the 44 mag full lug barrel re-bored, fitted and the markings on the barrel changed. That might be a cool gun to have.
