I actually trained myself to do gunsmithing just because I couldn't find one around here who would do work in a time frame shorter than the passage of haley's comet for a price less than I paid for my first car.
 
Not sure where in NORCAL you are at but shoot me an e-mail and I will let you know of one in the Bay Area that is damn good in my opinion..all5x
 
I have had excellent results with Ken Genecco in Stockton. I had him customize my wife's "Magnum Carry" into a gun worthy of the name. He's a true craftsman - a little hard to get on the phone (he's working), he takes his time to get it right, and he's not cheap (but he's inexpensive if you know what I mean).
