Don't really know! They are not what I am used to seeing. If someone altered them it looks like they did a nice job. Bob

The elusive plain clothes, N-frame, target stocks! ;)

*heck, I don't know!

I agree, they look very nice, one way or the other. :)

Those target stocks were made sometime between 1968 and 1982 (the color of the washers on the back could narrow it down further) and they were modified outside of the factory.

Someone did a nice job! I owned a set of smooth targets that were reshaped like that and they were very comfortable to shoot. S&W should have produced "modified Targets" for the square butt N and k frames, but they didn't. They did produce square but J frame target stocks like that.

Going to give that a go.
Have a set of targets here that have battered bottom edges.

OK, dug them out of the junk box and went after them with belt sander, files and sandpaper.
Pointed up the checkering, too.
Rubbed on a quick coat of Tru-Oil for starters.

Here is a set of K frame target grips that I bought very cheap due to damage along the edges of the square grips. I rounded them off and I like them better than the factory. It is just a shooter and I am not good at refinishing. Model 14-3

I agree with all of the above. Like almost everyone else, I've got several grips tucked away for various reasons. This is a perfect winter (OK, I'm a slow worker) project !
