N-frame holster for CCW - IWB or OWB

A while ago I was wondering the same thing. I since then have found that the 625 4in and 629 4in conceal nicely in a Milt Sparks VMII (IWB) with just a tshirt and either my Beltman or A&G 1 1/2in belts. The SSII is a very good holster as well I just prefer the VMII as I felt the loops on top of the firearm created an extra (tiny) bulk that wasnt needed. To each their own tho.

I am just a youngin when dealing with MS, I only have roughly a year in total time on their waiting lists. Yes that is the total of a couple orders. When one order comes in I place another one because that gives me about 4-6 months to get the firearm :D. They are doing fantastic tho and bringing down their waiting time tremendously compared to what it used to be.

Sounds like a plan

On this, the Fourth of July, thank you for your service.

For much of my IWB carry, I still like the old Summer Special style of holster. For a couple of my lightweight N frames I also use Galco's style of SS. Works well for the 625-10 and 325PD. It will work for a 27, but I like a heavier built IWB for a gun weighing that much.

All, have a great Fourth:)

I have a 3" 629 that if I carry on my belt, I use the El Paso Double Agent". It covers with just a shirt tale. I have not found any IWB holster that I would consider, they just plain don't work for me. Either the weapon is poking my ribs or jabbing into my hip bone or both, when seated.

Summer Comfort

I couldn't believe it either, but a 4" N frame disappears in a Galco Summer Comfort (IWB). I'm small, thin and athletic, but it tucks so close in, the frame melts against my side under any shirt. Until I pay off a G22 I'm buying just for carry, all I have is a nickel 25-5, 6". A blousy shirt can hide almost anything, and most people just don't study strangers, especially guys at the waist. In any case, my choices are dictated by the safety of my 10-yr old daughter, and not the comfort or correctness of people I don't know, or even my comfort.

I've owned a Model 29, (6 1/2" barrel), since 1978 and am very fond of it, but EDC? You're better men than I. The weight alone would be a nuisance. MHO, you understand.

I carry one of these IWB all day.. a liitle bigger than a N-frame but I have strong hips.

The cylinder of the N-frame revolvers is about 1.75" in diameter, and most IWB-style holsters will place that cylinder directly under the belt. This makes quite a lump that some folks will have some comfort issues with.

Based upon holster orders I know that quite a few people choose to carry N-frames in IWB-style holsters. I don't think it would be my first choice.

Regardless of holster choice a sturdy belt will be an absolute necessity. Without a good belt no holster will function properly or be comfortable.

I, like you, have a thin build, and I find that with the right holster, belt, and carry position, I can comfortably carry an N-frame all day without any problems. Personally, I like a high-ride IWB holster that keeps the cylinder above the belt. This seems to minimize any printing issues that one may have when carrying a big ol' N-frame.

I like the cylinder under the belt. A high ride just won't work due to my old friend Author Ritis. I find, for me, less printing with the gun lower--and as I carry IWB revolvers with no longer than 4" barrels, it seems top work for me.

Today, I would have to drop my left shoulder a good bit to clear a 4" gun in a holster that the cylinder is under the belt.

Getting old ain't for wimps:D

WOW !

Thanks for the post and comments

This really helps my quest to find what my options are
for carrying concealed, mostly to keep the dust down to a minimum while riding through the desert.
