There are 10 Army bases around the country named for Confederate military officers: Fort Lee, Fort Hood, Fort Benning, Fort Gordon, Fort Bragg, Fort Polk, Fort Pickett, Fort A.P. Hill, Fort Rucker and Camp Beauregard. All are located in Southern states.

It is possible all will soon need new names.

This is sad that they even consider doing this! Erase our history to satisfy a land of worthless crybabies.
These men of the Confederacy were of the United States, and were mostly graduates of West Point. A war that put Brother against Brother!
These men were worth more to this country, even dead then these worthless cretons are and ever will be.The idea that these worthless people have the nerve to want their statues and their names removed.
I can’t believe that the powers to be bend over for these people, quite frankly simply said they should just be told to booger off!
I just despise the ruination of our country and it’s history, you don’t like it leave!;)

I've never really understood why US military bases were named after Confederates. Seems a bit odd to me. Yeah, I know most of them served in the US military before secession, but still.

I think I'm okay with them changing the names if that's what they decide to do.

And before you ask, yes, I'm a native Texan and VERY conservative.

In many respects, this is starting to sound like the post-Stalin Soviet Union, when Stalin was declared a non-person! These bases named for Confederate Generals was done so in recognition of their military accomplishments. It is much more palatable to recognize these bases named after Confederate Generals than by new monikers such as: Fort Schumer, Camp Pelosi, Fort Sanders, etc!

And the Confederate unit statues over on the Gettysburg battlefield.

It's like they were never there!
After all, they were planning on just passing through!

Just a small sleepy town with 5* (IIRC) crossroads; where they made shoes!!
