Wish I'd read this thread before putting fish sticks, chicken nuggets, and fries in the oven!

Maybe I'll have some later tonight.

In the mid/late 60's Mom kept these in stock as after school "this'll hold you over until dinner time" survival food. I wouldn't even warm it up. Straight outta the can with either a Vernor's ginger ale or a Barq's cream soda.

ladder13, that looks just like what my kids call our "Christmas Spaghetti" that we have every Christmas Eve for our family dinner. Everyone loves it.

My kids were wild about spaghetti-O's, But even a light meal was 2 cans! So one was with sauce and the other was with mini meat balls.

When ground beef and sausage became more abundant (and the 4 kids were bigger) Real spaghetti and real meatballs were on the menu once or twice a month. The sauce came from our garden! Then came a glass of red wine and garlic bread, a small salad.

All I can say is Italian Night was to die for!

Roman Holliday, Spaghetti

It probably seems a bit strange, for a born, and raised Switzer, to make the best spaghetti that I ever tasted, but mom's recipe, 'Roman Holiday', was undoubtedly, the best.

I'd trade my front row seat in Hades, for a generous serving of mom's Roman Holiday, spaghetti to celebrate National Spaghetti Day. Sadly, that can't be, as mom Passed away in 1993 at 88yrs of age'

I still have her great recipe, stashed away somewhere, but haven't had any of that scrumptious spaghetti in a long time.
