Back in the good old days, shooters of merit and skill were awarded firearms as part of their excellence.
These weapons ranged from .22 pistols and rifles all the way up to specialy modified and rare weapons worthy of any collector.
Through the years they have become rare (in some instances always were), and in todays market and collectors circles are the cream of the crop.

Let's start off here with some of the pistols used to garner the fame and recognition of shooters around the world.

First up, highly modified 1911s that were the pistols used to win the Nimitz cup, yes these are the actually pistols.

The pistol:

And another pistol used:

Both of these were extensively worked by Navy armorers for function, trigger, and accuracy using Govt. issued match ammo.

Next up, a Smith and Wesson model 41 used for practice, (hey there better be a Smith in here somewhere):

And now, on to the trophy rifles, these are all firearms given out in the Mid 80's, so bear in mind their historical values are greater than their actual cost.

First up, a model 720 Remington, these rifles were made almost exclusively for the Navy to be given as trophys, they never made mass production as WWII squashed their production.

Yes, it's still in box, and I've never even fitted the bolt (and it'll stay that way).

Another interesting example is what was called the MkII Mod 1, this rifle has been rebarreled in 7.62X51 (.308), some of the earlier ones had inserts pressed into 30/06 barrels which tended to work out and cause all sorts of problems.
This parrticular rifle was rebarreled at the AMF plant, which is the rarer of the Two, the other plant doing it was H&R.
And yeah, I shoot this one!

The rifle, yes it's full size, not a "Tanker" model

And finally, the Holy Grail of collectable Garands, this is a rifle noted expert Scott Duff claims he hasn't even seen!
Mk 2 Mod 1 Grade A match rifle in 7.62 MM with ½-minute sights.
Bask in the awesomeness!

Some of the Glass bedding around the receiver, this was not meant to be disassembled:

And last but not least, the National Match sights:

Hope you all enjoyed the tour, it's one of my more esoteric collections, but I just love the histiory.

ETA:
NO THESE ARE NOT FOR SALE, please don't even bother asking.
