for IDPA competition. I'm as thin as a fence rail, 30" waist, and need a new belt as my ol' leather one of 15 yrs is plum wore out.
What kind is better for competiton, a leather belt or someother material?

I would recommend a kydex reinforced instructor's belt. It is continously adjustable instead of incremental. But make sure of the width before you order the holster, or make sure you can get a belt in the width you ordered the holster in. http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterP3.asp?ProductID=2808&CatalogID=254 There are other companies that sell this belt, but the Kydex is the important part. There are leather Kydex reinforced belts as well.

I started shooting USPSA before I tried IDPA, so I started with a CR speed belt. I currently use the inner belt of the CR speed set for IDPA but plan on buying a wilderness belt in the near future. I see quite a few wilderness belts at the IDPA matches.

After asking here and seeing the Wilderness belt I believe your right. Reading other forums and reviews I believeI'll give one a try.
Think I'll go with the 5 stich that Dillon sells.

I am SO disappointed. I thought this was going to be a thread about whiskey...

I replaced my burnt up Instructor's belt with a Frequent Flyer.
Same belt but the buckle is two delrin rings and doesn't pull my pants down like the metal Instructor's. Not like I am going to abseil off the roof. On the other hand, if I had, I would be less stove up, wouldn't I?

Liked to have bust a gut from laughing so hard when I read your reply, Jim! The FF would help keep my pants up next time I fly since I wouldn't have to take it off to go thru the metal detector.
