I found the S&W Model 39 (no dash) on the list of approved Curio & Relics firearms. The wording (in section 2, pg. 28) is: "Smith & Wesson, Model 39, steel frame pistol, cal. 9mm parabellum". Should this be taken to mean ALL model 39 (no dash) pistols are approved as C&R, or only "steel framed" no dash 39's? I honestly believe this is a mistake in the wording of the list, since very few no dash 39's were produced with steel frames. Can anyone with knowledge of the intricacies of the list advise me? I'll probably end up phoning the ATF for clarification.

I am not a C&R holder, nor am I a lawyer or a serious student of the ATF. However, it is very clear to me that the STEEL-FRAME 39 is on the C&R list precisely because there were very few of them produced. Aluminum-frame 39 pistols are NOT on the list. As far as steel-frame -1 or -2 pistols, I doubt that there is such a thing.
