I need help making a CD for cruising the backroads in my convertible. I tried googling, and got lists with Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" (:(), sites that wanted me to page through multiple pages so I could see more ads, and one that made me"force quit" my browser to get away from ads. So I turn to you.

I like a little bit of everything except rap and hip-hop. I already have The Who's "Mobile", and Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream", Talking Head's "Road to Nowhere, Robert Keen's "Amarillo Highway", and a few others. But I know I'm forgetting a lot of stuff, so if you can help I'd appreciate it.

I have a tendency to over explain (sorry); I want songs about driving, not songs that you turn up when they come on. "Dead Man's Curve", not good - "409" good.

Thanks for your help!

Several versions of "Hot Rod Lincoln" come to mind.

"Drive South" by John Hiatt. The Suzy Bogguss version is the one I like.

A local outfit, The Flat Broke Blues Band does a tune called,
"Headin' Up North." Might work.

"Route 66?"

In no particular order:

U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name
Yes - Shoot High, Aim Low
Bob Seger - Like A Rock
Don Henley - The Boys of Summer
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
Meat Loaf - Everything Louder Than Everything Else
Grateful Dead - Friend Of The Devil
The Animals - House Of The Rising Sun
Warren Zevon - Lawyers, Guns and Money

Edit:
Oops.... I missed this part:
...I want songs about driving, not songs that you turn up when they come on.
