Because of my aging eyesight, after cleaning the sights on my M&P22 with alcohol, I painted them, first a white base, then flourescent red in front and flourescent green in the rear. Everything seemd fine, until I got to an IDPA type shoot today and the paint had fallen off. It made it more difficult to shoot accurately of course.
My question is, who else makes fiber optic front and rear sights, specifically made for the M&P22. I am not about to try to swedge in a sight without a setscrew in it. I know Dawson makes a front, but the FO is only .040 and I prefer a .060, as it's easier for me to see (Wait till you get old).
Suggestions anyone.

Your local gunsmith should be able to install something that will help you. Check with them as they may have something in stock.

I was looking at these from Dawson Precision fronts and rear

Front
www.dawsonprecision.com SIGHTS FRONT:Smith and Wesson MP .22 Front Sights Category

Rear
DP Rear Sight Smith and Wesson M&P .22 Fiber Optic Inserted Fixed Rear Sight with .125 Notch, Match with .160 Tall Front #018228 Detail Page

Anyone running these? Only thing that concerns me is I have never changed a set of sights so wondering if this is something I can do or should I take gun to gunsmith, closest lgs charges a fortune to do anything, when I last ask them they wanted $100 to change sights.

I installed the Dawson Precision .160 front sight on my 22. I have Dawson fo sights on all my MPs and it makes a big difference.

Hi Jeff. I have the Dawson Precision set that you're speaking of on mine. I installed them very easily myself within 30 minutes. Just be sure you fully unscrew and remove the rear elevation adjustment screw on the factory sight. The rear sight will not slide out of the dovetail otherwise. The sights work great and I can even see over my suppressor with them! Hope this helps, I highly recommend them.

I ended up ordering a rear and two front FO sights (.160 & .180 high)from Dawson and both front and rear had to be filed and touched up with cold bluing on the base, where it probably wouldn't show anyway. It helps to have small gunsmith files and a lighted magnifier. Since I use a .180 tall front sight on my other M&P's, I decided to start with that height first and it worked out perfectly for me. The reason I went with the taller front sight was I had the rear sight screwed down all the way to hit POA at 25 yards and the factory front sight was a .160. The new sights are far better for me, than the factory sights, especially when shooting fast in competition.

BTW: I have a new in package Dawson FO .160 tall frontsight for sale, $25 includes shipping. It includes the nylon tipped punch and extra fiber optics of red and green.

I have the Dawson front F/O and would like to see a pic of the rear sight down range. The one that comes mounted seems spread to far apart. So anyone got a pic before I spend 50 bucks. Thanks!
