I would appreciate recommendations on the smallest FAA approved hard-sided case to transport a S&W or Colt snubnose revolver in checked baggage. All of the cases that I see online are several times larger than necessary to transport a snub. I want something that will take up little space and disappear into my checked bag. Any recommendations?

I use the MTM 802C with a TSA approved combo padlock. It is the smallest I could find and holds three inch and under revolvers and Glock 19 size and under autos. I travel with a small hard side suitcase and usually two handguns in the above cases. The triangular shape takes up less room than the traditional rectangular cases.

Could you please post a link for that case. FTR, I have been usuing the SW case in which my 642 arrived. I have a TSA cable lock that secures the case through the existing holes.

Thank you.

Be safe.

When I have flown, I have used a small plastic box with a regular padlock. I would think you could use a plastic S&W, Sig or Colt box with a lock.

Guys,
Try the medium PLANO case. It is triangular, will hold a J frame nicely and has two locking holes.
FAA does not rule the skies anymore. The new boss is TSA, which is an absolute joke. Just another government welfare project gone vastly wrong.

I assume that you are a snake enthusiast.

I use a lock box I bought at Wal-mart that looks like a dictionary. Opening the front cover exposes a metal door with a key lock. It's just big enough to hold my Kahr CW9, a spare mag, a 20rd box of ammo, my knife, and my badge. It cost less than $20 and flew with it 3 times last year without any problems.
