No stranger to handguns, I've owned over 20. I just sold my 9VE ($250). I liked the Sigma, but it is what it is, but a good gun for the money. Today I found a 40VE at a local gunstore in very nice shape with 2 mags-10 and 15. The one caliber I've never owned is .40-well...haven't had a .44 mag or .50, either, but I'm tempted to pick this 40 up. Tell me I should. Make it easy for me.

I do not own a .40 but have shot one - my brother-in-law's glock. A .40 is fun to shoot.

Ammo seems a bit costly for plinking but .40 is a heavy hitter for self defense. I often carry my .357 but don't take it to the range very often.

If you did not like it you could probably sell it for about the same price pretty easily.

I have a 9ve, I would not hesitate to buy a 40ve for $200. The .40 cal round is actually fun to shoot, less snappy than a .357 mag.

I have both 40 and 9.

Since you just had the 9, you know most of what there is to know about the .40, except it kicks more and the ammo is more expensive.

However, if you handload, you can load the .40 to minor power with 180 gr and still retain function. So you can go from mild to wild.

I have a Sigma 40F, the 1st generation Sigma, as well as a 3rd generation 4006, and a H&K PSP in 9mm. Of the three, the softest shooting is the Sigma. Accuracy isn't that great, but plenty accurate at 25 yards. My biggest complaint about the Sigma is that I bought it new...at $500.00 when they first came out. Yes, buy that 40VE, you won't be sorry.

Best of luck,

Dave

Bought it, cleaned it and ready to go. Just have to buy some ammo.

Let us know how it works out for you. I find that the Winchester "White box" 180 gr. flat point works very well for me.

Good luck,

Dave
