45ACP delivers a lot energy without a great amount of muzzle flash (relatively speaking). I think that's important for home defense because invasions occur more often at night. Whatever fits your hand and goes bang every time is the best one to pick. If the Glock fits...
["I may also go for just getting a flame-throwing flashlight that would blind someone and not give away my location so much."]
Just my 2 pennies about lights... Other than for fleeing from the home at night (which is always my first option) I don't want a weapon light on. If there are no lights on in my house then I'm in bed. If I'm alerted to an invader(s) (gotta have a dog) I'm not going hunting through the house to find the invader(s). I will take a defense position in the bedroom with my 12ga or 45ACP aimed at the door. I would certainly not want or need a light to give my position away. The idea of trying to blind an invader(s) with a flashlight is a very popular one, but in my home darkness is on my side.
