A while back I bought a bunch of ammo from a friend who was moving to Oregon and didn't want to hall it.

Amongst the pile there was 1750 rounds of .40 S&W factory ammo.

My problem was I didn't have a firearm chambered for .40 S&W.
So the search began and I came across this LNIB SIG 1911 Target at a very fair price that just about fit the bill.

Tons of very nice .40's on the market....many at very low prices( bought a S&W S40VE for 150.00)....the 9mm is now king again according to FBI.

Repeat post. Apologies to Will Rogers, I never met a box of ammo I didn't like. What a great reason for buying a new gun, "I gotta get rid of all this ammo!" I find it amazing that persons looking to unload ammo in this circumstance regard it as a 'boat anchor' rather than the treasure it actually is.:D

1911’s in 40 S&W aren’t real common. I have a Kimber 40 that I purchased a 10mm barrel for. Makes a great conversion gun. I have boat loads of 40 brass. I load them for cheap practice and carry the 10 when I want the extra power. Your Sig looks like a nice one. I saw several Sig 10mm barrels for sale online at very good prices.

I have a Glock 23C (also have 9mm barrel and 17rd mag), best of both worlds. lFYI
I have understood that a M1911 in 9mm or .38 Super can be converted to .40 or 10mm, and presumably .357 Sig, by a simple barrel and magazine swap, but I have not tried it. Does it work OK in a Glock?

As my Dept. was one of the last to swap back to the 9mm, from the .40, all my buds would see me and say something like this...

"Hey, y'all still shootin' forty? Here, take these here forties, I gots four boxes I ain't never gonna shoot."

So I am blessed with a bunch of, all kinds of, forty rounds.

Only shooter I have is my Glock 23. So I'm pure green with jealousy concerning your new SIG 1911!

I agree. I am also the man with 500 rounds of factory new 9mm Steyer and a Steyer pistol to shoot it out of so I am a happy camper.
Not a lot of 9mm Steyr pistols around. Can be used in 9mm Largo and .38 Super pistols, but the factory COAL is a bit too long to fit correctly in their magazines.

I really like Sig 1911's. Have 1 in 45.
when it comes to .40 have a Jericho 941, and a Rock Island Commander. Bob

Nice one, I've never fired a 1911 in .40.

Our department still carries .40's and have no immediate desire to change.

Next to my G23, my favorite .40 ammo burner is my gen 1 Ruger PC4 carbine.

Personally, I'd sell the ammo to someone who already shoots forty. Once you shoot up your supply, you'll have a gun that nobody wants.

Nice Sig. My only .40 is my tiny S&W Shield which is my fav carry gun.

You don't know what you are talking about! You must be of the camp that believes .40 S&W is dead, or for some reason, wants it to be dead. It absolutely isn't!!!:mad::mad:

Sorry if I offended you. I was just stating my opinion, not looking to start an argument. The last time I looked, this forum was a place for polite discourse. I've never owned any 40 caliber pistols, and I have no reason to disparage the cartridge or anyone who likes it. I'm just looking at what's happening in the handgun marketplace with guns in that caliber.

I really like my Springield Armory XD40, it eats anything I feed it and has no issues with extended firing. I used it on a course where we fired over 500 rds in a total of 6 hours range time. Not a hiccup!
