I picked up a new 327 using the proceeds of the sale of two autos that were gathering dust. This is my first N frame and my first 8 shooter. I got the snub nose (naturally) with the 2 inch (?) snout.

Shooting a couple of boxes of .38s through it showed good groups once I settled down and learned how to use the sights. I did a number of drills for defensive shooting and found the gun worked very well. Trigger, as from the factory, is quite good. A smooth pull and I noticed no staging.

I am undecided about the grips so far. They have a little play in them and when I grip the pistol in my arthritic hand death grip, I can hear some popping that I don't like.

All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. Based on reading a couple of threads here, I am going to look for a good belt holster and a pocket holster. I plan to use this gun a lot and am excited about the performance and ease of shooting.

Any holster/carry advice from other 327PD owners most welcome.

Edited to add: I guess I don't have a PD but just a snubby 327.

A 327 will print more than a lot in your pocket, unless your pants are severely baggy. A leather pancake holster will probably be your best bet.

I am waiting for a Comp-Tac CTAC holster for my 3" Model 29. I should have it sometime in the next week or two and I should give you a report. I think, based on the other CTACs that I have, that it would work great for you as well.

I have one of the 2inch 327's. Had a problem with the Titianum cylinder and had it replaced by Smith for an 8 shot stainless one. Purchased a Galco pancake from Smith.Shoots great especially with 158 grain JSP .38 Special +P's.
(we're not allowed to carry hollow point rounds in NJ.)

They really don't print that bad in the pocket and for a belt holster look at the one S&W sells on their web site. The pocket pouches from www.concealedcarry.com work well for keeping it from wearing holes in the pocket and have little bulk to add to printing. For an extra $10 they will make one specifically for the 327PD, but I use their standard one (2.5"} and it is fine. I have Ahrends grips on mine, but would get Spegels if replacing as they are less bulky also.

ENH: Mine is just like yours. Do you use the moonclips? I shot mine without them and frankly am not sure what advantage they give other than for quicker reloads. Am I missing something?

With the long 38 & 357 cases the moon clip take some finessing, lot of wobble. I usually carry two speed strips when carrying the 327. But I seem to shoot it more with the moon clips, just easier than fumbling with the 8 loose rounds. You sure can burn up a lot of ammo in a hurry with the 8 shots.
