New acquisition on the way - W. W. Greener/Flaig's in .22 Rem Jet **UPDATED-W/PICS**

That's just flat out stunning.

I've often thought about having one of the TC custom barrel makers whip out a .22 Jet carbine length barrel, and give my M53 some downtime.

Wow... I just discovered that there are less options than I thought for custom TC barrels... no more TC Custom Shop and Bullberry is retiring and closing up shop.

Nice Tom, gonna shoot it tomorrow? Won't be able to sleep till we see a target. The Martini's make nice conversions and your gun was made by a reputable company. Enjoy your new toy, Larry

Thanks Larry, I am really looking forward to getting the rifle out for testing soon!

Issue is we are getting pounded with rain this week in the high desert, it's much needed as always in this environment, but kind of screws up range time!

We were supposed to be traveling back east to attend a "White Coat" ceremony for our daughter at Yale, but we had to cancel due to the school shutting down public events......the event will go one, but family/friends will not be allowed in......very disappointed to say the least.

BUT.....if the weather breaks, I will do my best to get out between now and the end of the weekend.

I feel extremely fortunate to have found this little gem.....I have wanted a carbine/rifle chambered in the .22 Jet every since I purchased my M53 and started loading for it.

Bummer about TC custom and Bullberry......that would have been a great option!!!

Wonder if you can get a barrel made up by a competent gunsmith with a .22 Jet chamber reamer??

Match Grade Machine does custom TC barrels.

A Bullberry employee is supposed to pick up where they are leaving off and start up soon as well.

I just watched ZULU the other night. Never dreamed I'd see a Martini like that. I bet it is indeed a tack driver.

A Beautiful Rifle. For some reason the original designer does not get credit in the name. Henry O. Peabody of Boston MA originally designed the hinged breach block rifle with an external hammer under US Patent #35947 on July 22, 1862. Of course Martini made a huge improvement by substituting an internal concealed striker for the clumsy outside hammer.

Thanks Jim!!

I am trying to get out and shoot this one this afternoon weather/time permitting......at least to do a general sight in and function check with factory and reloaded ammunition.

Will report back.....

That is a nice looking rifle, like mine was a little on heavy side. Flaigs known for quality merchandise. There were a bunch of Cadets being made into Varmit guns in late 50s and early 60s. There were articles in the Gun rags at the time. Some smiths were drilling a hole in back of action so that rifles could be cleaned from breech end.

The first 22/250 (22 Varminter) I ever shot in 1963 was a Flaigs built on a mauser action it was very impressive as your 22R Jet will be. Jeff

Did not have much time dodging rain storms, but did manage to take the rifle out for a short test drive. Once I dialed in the scope I fired a few factory and handloaded rounds. Target was set at only 50 yards or so and I was not well rested, but the gun functions perfectly and had a group under an inch in hurried fashion.

Will get out with it and set up my bench on the next trip and see how she does at 100 yards and beyond.
