New addition to my "plastic" gun collection

"Shooting IDPA I saw more XD's fail for one reason or another than any other gun. The XD magazine release doesn't stand proud of the frame and needs a much longer push to get it released. The M&P slide catch is the hardest one to use and is pretty stiff when new, but it's the only one of the 3 that is ambidextrous."

Personally I don’t have any issues with my M&P mag release or slide catch. True the XD’s mag release is a little firm but not much of an issue for me.

Guns like anything man made will vary a little. Always a good idea to check the mechanics of the one you are about to buy.

"I think the takedown difficulty would be low on the list of things to consider. Once you're familiar with how to field strip it any of the 3 should pose no problem."

Only reason I mentioned the take down is for new handgun shooters. Not a huge deciding factor but I do know people who almost never clean their guns because they take so much time to field strip. An easy disassembly helps promote regular cleanings, inspections, and overall safety.
