Just got a couple preliminary photos from Doc. Gonna be a little different.

I’ll have to check that out. Didn’t know they were available.

What are you having it made for, Bruce?

Larry
Larry,
Probably one of the last guns you might imagine. Beretta 92 Compact, my truck gun. Lined, neutral cant so I can wear on either side, toe plug and Franz-Loc.

Looks like really nice work. What’s it going to cost when it’s finished?

You will never be wrong in buying a Barranti holster. Everything he does is done to perfection and the holster is always a work of art. Just outstanding.
Price will never be a problem in the long run. Something for your favorite sidearm will be worth it....

I love Doc's holsters. Oddly, however, I am not a fan of him putting his own "spin" on the Bruce Nelson holsters known as the "Summer Special" and the the other one that Sparks calls the "55BN" and that other makers call the "Askins Avenger." I like my vintage holsters to look like they did "back in the day." That said, his Yaqui Slide is perfectly executed as are many of his other holsters such as the Hank Sloan and others. Brilliant!

I haven't asked. I just tell him what I want and we settle up after the fact.

This one, for an N frame, was $365.

You’re right Bruce, I never would’ve guessed that!😀 I LOVE that you are getting a gem of a holster like this for your “truck gun”! Ain’t no reason for even a truck gun spending time in an UGLY holster!😂 It’s going to be beautiful, that’s for sure. Is this one of the Franz-Loc‘s that a few of us holster geeks bought a few years ago for future projects? Love the toe plug too.👍 It looks like it is going to have all the bells and whistles for sure. Are you getting it lined? I definitely look forward to seeing the finished product.

Larry,
It will be lined and have every option but edge lacing. Yup, one of the geeky Franz-Locs, I really like them. I like to wear cross draw while driving and then strong side when I get out of the truck. They work great for that.
Only downside is that now I will have to find a fancier set of grips for the Beretta.

Regards,
Bruce

This is really a simple holster, very meticulously executed. It's just 3 or 4 pieces, depending if it's lined. The carving and detail work really make this a standout. Simple, but not remotely easy.

I wonder if one of the experts here knows if the stitching is a mixture of hand and machine? The top and welted edge look like machine stitching to me but the bottom and toe plug must be hand stitched.

The top and edge could be hand stitched but the backside along the welt just looks like the bottom of a machine stitch to me. Just curious about construction techniques.

I'll look forward to seeing the new one.

I think you have the right idea. To my knowledge, the plug is done by hand and the rest by machine.

Bruce
