I’m liquidating a couple of firearms. I used to be a “one gun for all occasions “ type of guy. Now, I’m a “small, medium, and large “ kind of guy. Different guns for different situations. I have a Ruger LCP Max for pocket/church carry, a Browning Hi Power for home defense/zombie apocalypse. I need a medium. Weighing between S&W Shield Plus & Sig P365X. A Shield EZ-9 is also a consideration due to my arthritic hands, but I’m not fond of the size. Between these three, which would you choose and why? Other options?

Also considering the Glock G48. I just discovered that they make an extended guide rod that plugs the ugly hole in the slide below the barrel.

The EZ is a very comfortable pistol, for my hand size, anyway. I’d give it a close look. My own choice is the 365, but really, I doubt you will go wrong with any of the three you mention. If you have any trouble operating the slide on your P35, it might be time for an EZ. I was skeptical about the design until I handled/fired one.

If you take a look at the P365, ask the salesman to show you the model with the XL-size frame, and maybe look at a P365XL, too. The larger (longer, taller, however one describes it) frame might be helpful to you.

I have a P365 from early on. Added the XL grip for my somewhat bigger hands.

I would have no problem with a Shield, they have proven themselves.

I had a first gen Shield, and switched to the P365. IMHO the ergonomics of the Shield grip were not as good, but grip is always a personal thing. The P365 shoots much better than a gun its size has a right to. Note that the pics below compare a P365XL to the Shield. A P365X will be shorter in the barrel.

I’m leaning more towards an Sig. 365, 365X, or 365XL. Next Friday I will probably make a trip to fondle some Sigs and the Shield Plus . One advantage to the original P365 is that it could possibly be small enough for pocket carry.

Ergonomics will play a major role in my decision. Based on past experience. I think the advantage goes to Sig in the ergonomics department. I’ve owned a P365 in the past. I’ve not really held a Shield Plus. Although I don’t really like the larger size of the EZ-9, I don’t really need it for pocket carry either. My Ruger LCP Max fulfills that role.

A quick online review of prices shows the P365 to be running around $100 higher than the Shield Plus. That’s probably enough of a difference for me to choose the Shield Plus.

To anyone else asking this question the S&W Plus is a great choice. With the new 15 round factory magazine from S&W Equilizer it is a great EDC IMO.

Had I not found the CZ Rami, I would most likely have chosen the Shield Plus based on price or the Glock G48. One thing that I don’t like about the G48 is the ugly hole at the end of the frame. Just found out that they make an extended guide rod for the G48 that plugs the ugly hole.
