A week ago I was talking with a buddy saying that I would like to see what my hand loads would spec out at with a chronograph. I said that I would not use it a lot so I could not justify the expense. He said that we should go halfers …..so we bought a Beta Chrony. Man….how did I ever reload without it!
Some loads speced out hotter than I thought they would and some were less then I thought.
S&W 629 with an 8 3/8 barrel and a 240 grain LRNFP.
10 grains of Unique = 1245 f/s Average Muzzle Velocity (AMV)
17 grains of 2400 = 1235 f/s AMV
18 grains 2400 = 1293 f/s AMV
19 grains 2400 = 1345 f/s AMV
20 grains 2400 = 1390 f/s AMV
Tomorrow I try the same loads in a 4” Model 29-2. If I knew how much I would like this, I would have done it long ago.
