I recently acquired this gun. I've read/heard that the rear sight is less that acceptable. What do any of you know for a replacement? My seller told me that the Wilson Combat is the one to get. What say you?
Thanks

The Wilson sight is the go to. What knots my shorts is the price you pay for a new Python and the quality it is. Yet they put that cheezy rear sight on it. That most people replace with the $225 Wilson.......CZ would have been wise to continue with the excellent Elliason sight that our old guns wear.

I have 3 new Pythons, one in each length, and a King Cobra Target and I have no complaints with the rear sight. On the new Colts you just have to use a hex driver and loosen the set screw then when you adjust windage then tighten the set screw. No big deal. Generally once windage it set it doesn’t need reset.

If you buy a new Python try it as it is and see if it bothers you before spending a bunch on something you probably won’t need.

Edit: As to most people replacing the rear sight, I seriously doubt that.

Just where do you see the price of the Wilson rear sight for $225.00 ?

As others have noted, try the sights as is before you replace.

I have a 3" 2020 Python and have had zero problems with it, despite what the internet advises. I'm right around 300 rounds, mostly 357s, with no issues at all.

I probably will replace the sights as I prefer a gold bead, but it won't be because of a faulty product. At least not yet.

I installed the Wilson Combat sights on my 4” and my 6” New Model 2020 Colt Pythons. I changed front and rear sights on both guns. I didn’t like the looseness side to side in the rear sight. It’s just that simple. Colt could do better on the Python sight but they don’t. S&W’s revolver rear sight’s over the years have always been firm and solid with no side to side movement. The 2020 Python factory rear sight is not precision fit in the cavity of the frame and is loosey goosey on the roll pin.

The excellent Wilson rear sight is $109.95 from Midway or directly from Wilson .

This is what I paid direct to WC for the rear sight on my 3”, and I love it. Paid about $1300 on line for the gun so total pkg was about $1500 (which happens to be MSRP).

Pictured here with an older 2.5”.

Online awhile back.

Answer to another post. WHY should I have carry a (GET LOST QUICK) baby allen wrench and a screwdriver to adjust the rear sight.........My older Pythons have way better rear sights

Seems like you have to carry a screw driver so what’s the difference.

I have two 3 inch and a 4 inch and have no trouble with the rear sight. Granted the Wilson looks well built, but unless you're just looking to spend money, the OEM sight is fine.

And the cheesy plywood grips

I really like the new "Plywood" stocks. They just feel better to me than the stocks on the old ones. I even like the more muted color better than the finish on the old ones. On a blue gun, the old stocks looked great, but these are a good balance on the shiny stainless steel.

I've thought about replacing the rear sight, but then wondered "why?" I've never touched the sights on the ones (2) I have. They're just like they came out of the box. I tend to treat adjustable sights as if they were fixed anyway. I did dig around and found the proper Allen wrench just in case I ever need it. It's in my range bag. Unused.

I put the Wilson Combat rear sight and green fiber optic front sight on mine, as well as a set of Deer Hollow grips -- just because. The original grips felt great, and mine were darker so they didn't look as much like plywood. I only replaced them because I just prefer solid wood over laminated ones. Here's a picture with the original grips and one with the Deer Hollow grips.
