Hello,

I talked my local gunsmith into making me a "custom Baughman ramp" using a 14K gold flat bead and just got it back today. He did a GREAT job. He had to make some tools for the job and now that he has the tools, says he can do more.

I plan to get a few more of the gold beads ordered up and have him do a few more pistols for me.

I thought I would share if anyone is interested, let me know via private message and I can give you his name and phone number. We are in SouthEast Texas.

I had this done on a 19-5.

Note: I believe the style I had done is "custom Baughman ramp". If I am wrong, I welcome education and correction.

The blade on your sight (setting on the ramp base) looks like the bottom half is Baughman Quick Draw and the top half is McGivern Bead, both pictured below in original configuration…..

I have seen sight configurations similar to yours on Pre-War .357 Magnums with McGivern Bead blades installed on top of plain King Ramp bases like pictured below. The front sight on this particular revolver, a Kansas City Police Non-Registered Magnum, has had the Baughman QD blade replaced with the McGivern Gold Bead blade……

The Brass/Gold bead front blades I've seen have been more of a standard Patridge blade fitted with a bead rather than a cut-down ramp.

I like the DX front sight base. With the spring-loaded blade you can swap out blades at will. Gold bead, fiber optic, plain black....

I've never had a gold bead , how easy is it to see in both low and bright light?

I love the 15K gold beads. They don't tarnish and are always bright and good in most light conditions. As long as there is light from behind.

If you are shooting with no light behind you and firing into bright light, then you just have a good silhouette of the front blade.
