We just returned from our first week long trip in our RV. We drove just over 1,700 miles and hit 9 states (PA,NJ,NY,CT,RI,MA,NH,VT,ME).

We had our first lobster roll here in Chatham, MA

It was a working fishing pier and a favorite place for seals and gulls looking for a free meal.

Another lobster roll from the Lobster Shanty in Salem, MA

We stopped at the Sig Pro Shop and Academy in Epping, NH since it was only 16 miles from the campground we stayed in the previous night. The people working in the Pro Shop were a great group. They went out of their way to show me anything I wanted to see and let me take all the pictures I wanted.

I asked them if they had any old style milled slide P226 extractors. I told him they have been on back order since July. One of the guys went back to the armorers area and got me two extractors, pins, and springs. He put them in a baggie, handed them to me and said "no charge".

We stopped by the US headquarters in Newington, NH. I was able to take a couple of pictures before being told by a couple of nice guards that I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the building because "of the nature of what we do here" I wasn't sure what that was all about, but I wasn't in the mood to get locked up.

This place had the best lobster rolls, scallops, and fried clams in Kennebunkport Maine. Apparently it's where the Bush's get take out when they are in town.

This was a little spot in Trenton Maine. The place was packed so I knew it had to be good and I wasn't disappointed ;)

Finally, these pictures are from Bar Harbor. If there is a more beautiful place on this earth, I haven't seen it yet.

These were two eagles. It was hard to get good pictures of them as we were on a boat about 75 yards away from them. In the first picture, one eagle is flying and the other eagles head in at the bottom of the picture.

Some really nice photos you have taken.

Did you by chance hit the Maine Dinner?
Great place to eat.

Someday I may take a trip up to New England.;)

Nice pictures, Maine is beautiful. A couple years back we drove up to Acadia, staying in Bar Harbor. On the way back we stopped in a few towns and villages that time forgot, much to their benefit.
We stopped in Kennebunkport one day, and asked where the Bush compound was. "Make a left, go 3 miles, stay on the winding road, UNTIL you see the tourists".:D
HW just happened to be going fishing that day, what are the odds?

Thanks!

The Maine Diner was on our list of places to eat - we actually drove right past it. I'm a big fan of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and I checked out which places were close to our route. The Maine Diner was one of them, but we ended up eating at the Clam Shack in Kennebunkport instead. A friend of mine recommended it highly and we weren't disappointed. They had the best Lobster roll that we had on our trip. The fried clam strips and scallops were incredible as well.

I know we'll be going back to Maine. The next time we'll allot more time to see things and eat there (I'm a big fan of food!). I'd also like to go to Nova Scotia. I finally get 3 weeks vacation next year so hopefully we'll be back soon.

I'll try to remember to PM you for more suggestions of things to see and places to eat when we go. I'd also like to hit S&W and Colt the next time.

my invitation must have been lost in the mail.............

We're talking about taking a ride to New Orleans and hitting the Gulf states in the near future. I love Cajun food and I need to experience eating there. I'll be sure to contact you for some places to eat when we go.

Acadia was closed due to the government shutdown. We only had 1 1/2 days in Bar Harbor so we had plenty of other stuff to see. We drove past the Bush's summer home. We couldn't stop to take any pictures since we were in the RV and weren't allowed to park anywhere.

those lobster rolls look fantastic!
I never had a Lobster roll before and now I'm hooked. We had 4 of them while we were up there and all 4 were slightly different. They were all great, but the one from the Clam Shack was the best one.

Glad you and family enjoyed your New England trip.

Seafood, man do we have it.;)

PS Love your traveling buggy.
We love the RV too. We just bought it this past July. It's the perfect size for me, Mrs Ref, and Otis. It's 21Ft and has a queen bed, 4000 watt on board generator, 3 burner stove, kitchen sink, table, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, A/C, furnace, water heater, toilet, shower, 50 gallon fresh water tank, 22 gallon black and 25 gallon grey tank. It's got tons of storage in cabin, and also underneath the outside.

It's big enough to travel and sleep in comfortably, but small enough to be able to take into small towns and see things in.

This was our fourth trip this year. The others were only for long weekends and not nearly as far.

Nice pics! Obviously ya'll had a good time;I mean, even Otis is smiling.:D
Otis loves traveling in it. We call it his mobile dog house. He's got a big dog pillow between the two front seats and that's were he sits and sleeps while we are on the road.
This was his first time on a beach and he loved running around in the sand. He found out that he didn't like drinking the salt water really fast ;)

Great pictures! I used to go to New England a lot on business, but it's been years since I've been back. Beautiful in the spring and summer, absolutely gorgeous in the fall, and a real bear in the winter. Thanks for all the pictures; they brought back some nice memories. I was particularly interested in the plaque - a bit of history there.

John
