My 686 plus has moved to the number 2 spot after I went to the ffl/range today and picked up the 69 combat 44 magnum , shot multiple cylinders of many different rounds ,magnum and special, 240 grain to 165, jhp, jsp, wadcutters, this thing is awesome!! Number 1 in 1 hour of work. Never has a firearm exceeded my hopes thos much. Wood grips on the way!!

Congratulations, glad to hear that you're happy with your Model 69! You're a better man than me, Gunga Din! Shooting .44 Magnums out of a 2-3/4" bbl. must be a real handful, especially in a lighter L-frame! I might be OK with .44 Specials, but not magnums. As Dirty Harry says in Magnum Force: "It's a light Special. This size gun it gives you better control and less recoil than a .357 Magnum with wadcutters". Although I shoot .44 Magnums (various Model 29s), my favorite "go to" OWB carry gun is still my 3" 686+. Enjoy!

The only rounds that were bad recoil wise were the 180 pmc and the worst was these remington umc 240 grain rounds but even those were doable in a pinch , the best magnum round was 230 grain federal hst , and the underwood extreme penetratior fluted round. I mean im not recoil sensitive at all but idk what those remmington rounds are made for they were the only ones spitting fire and really uncomfortable.
