Hello all. I am new to this site and have already tried the search function to no avail in finding what I'm looking for.

I recently got a M&P .40 that I plan to use for carry. I have googled several holsters that are either made directly for the pistol or some that fit this pistol from other weapons. My main question is for those who have this pistol and the holsters that they use.

I am curious if anyone has a preference based on their personal use of the holster. I am also curious about the locking devices on them. Some seem to be a mechanical thumb release. Are they simple to work? Do they keep the pistol securely in the holster?

Some holsters seem really low cut with the weapon in it. Do they too hold the weapon securely? Is the pistol "locked in" or can it accidentally fall out?

Money isn't a huge issue, so long as the holster holds the pistol well and it can be easily drawn. Any guidance is very much appreciated. Again, I searched, but got very random threads...none that I saw gave me the information I'm looking for. Thanks.

Holsters

I prefer the solid lock of a kydex holster. (Like Fobus)
It locks around the trigger guard and is a solid hold.
Just my 2 cents...

I have the 9c and I use a Fobus holster (OWB) for when I have to take off my gun and its holster, the Bianchi holster (OWB) with the thumb strap for working/open carry, and I use Don Hume holster (IWB) just normal ol CC.
