New Guy from The Western Slope of Colorado

Hi All,
I am in process of researching the M&P line to use as a personal defense firearm, as well as, finding out more about a S&W .22 revolver handed down from my Dad, which may have been my Grandfather's firearm.
Regarding the revolver, I'm asking where to start to ask questions and post info about what I think is a K22/model 17 with a serial number of K276XXX with the diamond grips?

Welcome Tim from a former West Slope denizen and Colorado native. I did a lot of shooting north of GJ up along the Book Cliffs back in the day as well as at the Orchard Mesa Gun Club. I'll be in Delta and GJ later this month visiting family, friends and for our annual old guy LE retirees shoot a thon.

Lucky you with the handed down Model 17. I've owned two over the years and was just shooting one of them last month. Great revolvers.
