Just bought the Echo 152 it wasn't cheap but had good reviews. Any thoughts on this model for home owner use.

They are a quality product. With normal use and proper maintenance it should last for many, many years. Use a 89 octane fuel with a proper(50:1 typically) 2 stroke mixture. I have used an Echo string trimmer for about 6 years now with no problems w/basic maintenance.

I've got a bunch of Echo stuff (2 chainsaws, string trimmer and backpack blower) and all have been bulletproof for many years. I had my chainsaws out this past week raising a bunch of tree canopies around the yard with my son.

I started to replace the older stuff with Stihl equipment. Nothing against Echo but the guy I rent my ariel manlifts for work sells Stihl. Otherwise I wouldn't hesitate buying echo for a second.

With some basic care and using NO ETHANOL GAS, you'll be givin' it to your kid.
