Found this holster on X-bay a few months ago. Paid a little more than I wanted but I thought it appropriate for this little pistol. My Dad went through life with 3 firearms, A Winchester model 70 30/06, Mossberg 22 rifle and this little Woodsman. They were just tools to him. They did what needed to be done when needed to be done. At the age of ten I saw how persuasive this little pistol could be in a bad situation.
Back to the holster, I wish I knew who built it. There are no makers mark, but carved, laced and lined what's not to like! If someone has an idea who possibly made it I would appreciate your thoughts.

Awesome story, Woodsman, and that holster is beautiful!

I’ve got a 3rd Gen Sport (from 1961) that rides around in either a Eubanks or Heiser. These are incredible little plinkers!

I don’t know who made it but I like the style. I am one who likes holsters cut to open up the trigger. I’m not much for carving because of carrying through brush. The briars play havoc on fancy holsters. I carry a 4” Hi Std in holster I “customized “ with exacto knife. It ain’t much to look at but does the job.

My dad's woodsman is not the only woodsman I own. I also have these 3RD series. I had a 2ND series 6" match target but the condition wasn't as good, probably about 90%. I sold it a couple years ago planning to replace it with a better condition 3RD series. I haven't found one that I want to pay the price for yet. I shoot my S&W model 41's better than the Colts so they get more use.

Very nice storyman. Thread reminds me of the Colt Match target I got to handle back in the 60s. Did not know what a gem I was holding! It was the Target model with the Bulls Eye stamped near barrel and had what was called Elephantine grips. Long barrel on it I remember. Made in the 40s I believe? Sure wish it were mine these days.

Your holster was made in Mexico as evidenced by the lacing, lining and stitching. Few such holsters have makers marks, some have MEXICO stamped in small letters somewhere.
Heiser referred to their floral carving as Mexican hand carving-floral leather carving apparently originated in Spain and Mexico.
Stop in over at the Gun Leather forum now and then, you should find something of interest.
Regards,
