I just received a Bianchi Model 111 Cyclone holster size 04. Pleased! Good-looking, well-made, and, after some confusion about whether it would fit my 4.2" Ruger Match Champion, I found it did...very well! Even the Bianchi Customer Service rep. who was looking at her information, said that it was for 4" barrels only. The packaging agrees:

FITS, MED/LRG Frame 4" Ruger GP 100
S&W 586,686, and similar frames
Taurus 669,689
Wesson 15, 715
But, I found the Ruger's 4.2" barrel fits to within ~1/4 inch inside of the holster's bottom. So, If you have concerens of that nature, rest easy. BTW...I am not associated in any way with Bianchi, except for being a satisfied customer!

I have found that most holsters have a little bit of extra room at the muzzle end.
One half inch is not unusual. But of course there are exceptions.

An example of the extra half inch is the Colorado Saddlery
holster shown on the left with Model 10.

An example of muzzle flush with end of holster on the right, by Bell Charter Oak,
with Model 67.
