Welcome aboard j4j4 from the great state of Pennsylvania!

Hello j4j4 & a big WELCOME ABOARD from the Great Lakes Region of the U.S.!!

Sure......we'll be gentle with ya.......newbie :p ;)

Welcome from Texas j4j4. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Always grand to have a new member of the S&W family join in from across the Eastern pond.

Welcome from across The Pond. How much red tape did you have to jump through to get your rifle? Does the UK require suppressors?

thanks for the warm welcome.how much red tape!! here goes- lol. you have to join a shooting club as a probationary member for a minimum of six months. If the club like you,you are offered full membership.you then apply to the police for a firearm certificate.the forms come back for you to fill in.the police require 2 referees statements as to your suitability to own firearms plus they contact your doctor about your mental state etc, police vetting,no criminal convictions whatsever.you have to justify exactly why you need a firearm, you have a firearm officer visit you for interview and look at your gun security arragements.you are only allowed a certain amount of ammunition to hold and to buy.I was ok with my application as all i wanted was a Rem 700 police 308 and a S&W 15-22.this took me a total of nearly 8 months to be able to go a buy the rifles .moderators are allowed but they have to entered on to your firearm licence but again you have to justify.some police forces dont like you having them and will refuse without good reason.we are not allowed to use our guns for home defence, not that we have a problem with home invasion over here ,i have a louisville slugger baseball bat just in case, lol.

Welcome j4j4. I "migrated West in 1968" from the Brighton area leaving behind a BSA Martini International MK II, a Browning Highpower and a Browning Medallist in 0.22. However, made up for it in the last 44 years, with a reasonable number of revolvers, pistols and rifles. Possession of what is known as a C&R FFL enabled me to amass a number of old UK weapons dating from 1910 to 1950, so quite happy. Dave_n (Southeastern Pennsylvania)
