Let me first say them I love my DPMS AR-15. But at $.18-$.25 a round that obsession gets expensive! So when I first read about the 15-22 I decided to check it out. Held it once and said it had to be mine. I love my 10-22 but getting the feel of my AR in .22 caliber is a win win. I picked her up today at Larry's Pistol and Pawn in Huntsville Al. They are running them at $399 on sale right now until the end of the year...maybe longer.

First thing I did was break it down and clean it. Took off the factory sights and swapped over my cheap red dot from my 10-22. Took my new favorite toy out to my wonderful girlfriends house out in the country with a fresh box of Federal 550 round box. Didnt even have to sight in the red dot, it was dead on. I thru the factory sights on and got them sighted in after a couple turns to the windage screw. I shot about 200 rounds thru it with a couple stovepipes. I think these were my fault as i hurried to load a fresh mag. To finish off my test firing i loaded a full mag and ran thru it as fast as i could pull the trigger. not one FTF, FTE, or stovepipe. Looks like i have a keeper. one thing i did notice that when i hold the front of the mag well/magazine instead of the front grip, the load assist tabs hit my hand as the mag emptied and the tabs moved up. anyone else notice this?

As for future plans, i have a Hogue grip and saddle stock ordered. Also planning on some rail covers and maybe a better red dot.

ok couple questions.

1. Where can i get the best deal on extra mags?
2. Can anyone recommend some rail covers?
3. Does anyone make an extended charging handle lever?
4. How bout a rubber recoil pad (not for the recoil but just to be more comfortable)?

Thanks for the help guys!

What was your impression of the internals when you took it apart, as far as quality? Did it feel like an inexpensive 22, or did it feel like quality AR type parts? How much plastic/polymer if any is used in this rifle?

Good price by the way compared to what I've seen in my area.

its got alot of plastic in it as espected but we are talking .22s not .223s so i dont see a problem.

Take a look at LaRue for rail covers or clips. I put what I think they call index clips on my rails. They come as a 72 piece set.

Nice score! I also ran into the button on the mag hitting my fingers. A slight hand reposition took care of that. I want some rail covers and a buttstock pad as well. Brownells has a couple of butt pads for about $12, also different rail covers.

I bought my 15-22 yesterday , and am pretty well pleased with it's performance. I ran 300 rd of Fed Champion HPs thru it without too many jams. I think the dealer should have supplied me with solidpoint bullets, but I'll burn these up first. The price was right; $400 out the door. Ibought 2 mags from a local dealer for $24 each, out the door. I want to get a red dot sight for it.
Overall I am pleased . I just don't like those occasional jams

My dad and i just did a trigger job. bent the trigger spring, sanded the release and cut one leg of the hammer spring. much easier to drop the hammer.

I have an interest in one myself and as good a price as an AR conversion kit.

BTW I've been in Larry's many times as my sister lives in Huntsville also. I love that place, nice range too.

yeah nothing better than running over there on my lunch break to fire a couple hundred rounds to burn off the work day stress!

I don't know about the other accessories but you did great getting the hogue grip. I love mine. I think the grips that have the backstrap look kind awkward on this rifle.
