Just saying hello. New m&p 40 full size here with first firing last weekend. Other than firing what turned out to be old ranger ammo from a gun show...and my too hard of mag insertion ( had the forward slide issue) I love the gun. Great feel in the hand. I now need more ammo which I have a feeling may be a consistant issue...

I had a s&w compact 9 ( bobbed hammer) years ago and was dumb enough to sell it. Will not happen again. Just got back into shooting after 20 year break with the firing of my 686/1 and to think I wanted to sell that too.

May get into reloading to reduce costs but for now it's time for more shooting. ;)

Congratulations. I've had my FS 40 for a year and a half now and have never had an issue with it. It's a pleasure to shoot. Just got my Shield 40
last weekend and have about 200 rounds through it without an issue. (Even the Mag stayed in) The slide release is still very stiff and I think I'm just going to have to get out and keep shooting until feels natural.
It did take almost 5 months for the Shield to get to my LGS, NOW I can say it was worth the wait. I believe it's going to be a nice addition to the SW collection.

Hello & welcome! I too am finding myself into that same predicament. I recently picked up a factory 9mm barrel so to spend a little less money on rounds which a large bulk should be arriving at my doorstep very soon. I can't wait!

I eventually think I may invest in one of the factory 9 mm barrel. A little cheap I guess. Does the barrel come with a replacement spring? Need to check them out a bit.

Congrats on your new M&P40! I purchased a new one last week and I was elated after putting the first 100 rounds (Remington UMC 180 grn MC) through it. The perceived recoil is surprisingly light! I love it! I can't get enough of shooting it. Enjoy your new pistol!

Congratulations on your new M&P40. I've also had mine for a year and and a half. I would definitely recommend reloading. I would have never been able to shoot the thing decently if I had to worry about finding or affording ammo. If you cast and load, you can get the cost down to 4-5 cents per round so a 200 shot session would cost you less than $10. Reloading 100 rounds takes about 15 minutes on my LnL AP, but even with a single stage press, you can do it in an hour. Casting up 500 bullets can be done in an hour too with very inexpensive equipment.

But one step at a time. The first step is to enjoy that gun!

Eventually reload, but I now have 150 rounds saved up for shooting and reloads, someday. Sunday may be near 60'so I hope to get out.
