Howdy, new here - I just got a new M&P 9 Shield from my LGS a couple weeks ago, haven't gotten a chance to fire it yet. I read the "Ultra tight recoil spring on Shield" thread & others & don't have any problem racking or locking the slide, or disassembling & reassembling it, although the RSA is pretty strong.

But I'm having a real hard time loading the magazines. I can get maybe 3 or 4 in & it requires such excessive force I have to push the magazine down onto the next round against a table to load them.

I've been shooting other auto-loaders for years, a couple 22's, PPK/S, P226, 1911A1.

Thanks, Don K

i'm sure you will get many replies of the following:

get a Uplula Magloader.

The springs on the Shield mags are stiff and they can be harder to load then the double stack versions of the various M&P's (cant compare loading any 9mm mag to one that's for a .22).

The springs may get a little easier with use, but that Uplula is a real time saver, example as shown (i love using mine):

+1
Smartest accessoty purchase I ever made.

I'll add that this loader makes preloading and reloading my mags before and during range visits so much easier, that it can cause one to run thru more ammo then perhaps they intended to

;)

Hey guys, thanks for all the recommendations on the UpLULA,
I will definitely get one.

And I don't feel like such a wussy anymore :-)

Running through too much ammo - Yeah, I hate it when that happens ...

Thanks,
Don K

new mag springs are tight. load them as much as you can, let them sit a day or so, unload and reload, repeat. After a few days, you should easily be able to get them topped off. Worked on all 4 of my mags.

This spring I had the privilege and opportunity to assist a Sig Sauer rep at an open Range Day. The public could come and shoot whatever they wanted from us and other vendors. I was amazed that the Rep loaded mag after mag all day long with bare fingers. Guess he's just in shape. I guesstimate upward of 7-8 hundred rounds, from .380 to .45. I would HAVE to have a loader. Use and love mine.

I did fully load the 7 & 8 round mags and left them loaded to maybe take some of the edge off the springs.

Thanks again, Don K

I just purchased a 9MM Shield and I noticed the mags were tough to load but what's weird is once I got a few rounds in them it got easier to put the rest in. And yes, Uplula is the way to go. So when will they come out with the Performance Center Shield in 45ACP?
